Licensed Insolvency Practitioner

Claire is a director of the company based at Antony Batty London. She first started working for Antony Batty & Company LLP in 2009, following a career as a serving Police Officer in the Metropolitan Police. After an enjoyable 7 years with ABc, which saw her progress from junior administrator to senior administrator, she moved on to HW Fisher, a mid-tier firm, as an assistant manager, running a team which worked across all insolvency sectors. She successfully passed the JIEB exams in 2019 on her first sitting to become a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner.

In late 2019 she accepted a role as a senior manager at Hudson Weir, where she continued to run her own team and work on a wide variety of cases from Members Voluntary Liquidations and Creditors Voluntary Liquidations to trading Administrations, including the long-standing Aquascutum brand.

In June 2021, bringing a wealth of experience as well as her personable nature, Claire returned to Antony Batty & Company as a fully licensed, appointment taking partner.

Outside of work Claire is a busy mother to a son and owner of a re-homed Guide Dog, both of whom keep her on her toes.

More about Claire

Q: What do you enjoy about insolvency? What got you into the profession? A: I’m a people person and, following a career as a serving Metropolitan Police Officer, aiding members of the public, I fell into insolvency following a career break after having my son. I instantly fell in love with all aspects of the role; from assisting Directors of Companies in distress, to realising assets of Companies for the benefit of creditors. Whilst the role of an insolvency practitioner can often involve challenging situations which require sensitive handling, due to my ‘treat others how you wish to be treated’ ethos and very personable nature, I enjoy the positive results that can be achieved. It genuinely brings me joy to know that I provide a professional, fair and transparent service to the public and I am very privileged to say that I love my job for these very reasons.
Q: Tell us a bit about your career, especially any particularly interesting cases you have dealt with A: After an enjoyable initial 7 years with Antony Batty & Company LLP, dealing with a wide variety of cases, I moved on to HW Fisher, a mid-tier firm, as an assistant manager; running a team which worked across all insolvency sectors. I passed the JIEB exams in 2019 on my first sitting. Shortly after the closure of HW Fisher’s insolvency department, in late 2019 I accepted a role as a senior manager at Hudson Weir, where I continued to run my own team and work on a wide variety of cases, from Members Voluntary Liquidations and Creditors Voluntary Liquidations to trading Administrations; such as the long-standing Aquascutum brand. In June 2021, I came back to Antony Batty & Company LLP as a fully licensed, appointment taking partner, ready for a new challenge
Q: What are your Hobbies and Interests? Any interesting facts about you? A: I once cooked my way to the semi-finals of Junior MasterChef – I am sure my mother will show the VHS to anyone that asks! My hobbies include reading, crosswords, cooking and trying to keep fit. I have recently rehomed a Guide Dog and started the Couch to 5k challenge – please let me know if you’ve any tips.
